Spend a lunch break in a Zaragoza warehouse canteen or an evening in a student flat and you will collect theories about the cita previa: try at midnight, try on Mondays, try another browser. Most of it is folklore. The system is plainer than the stories, and more stubborn.
Everything happens on the administration's portal, sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es, in its Cita Previa Extranjería section. Province first, procedure second, then your passport or identity card details. A free slot, if there is one, is offered on screen; otherwise you read that no appointments are available.
That sentence causes most of the despair, yet it only describes the second you looked. Slots come and go throughout the day, so an empty screen at nine says little about the afternoon. Those who look once give up; those who look often book.
The procedure you select matters more than the hour you pick. A NIE assignment, an EU registration certificate and a fingerprint session for a TIE are three distinct bookings. Choose the wrong one and the desk cannot serve you for the right one, however tidy your folder.
Booking costs nothing. No one can sell you a privileged slot, and claims to the contrary deserve suspicion. A service like ours sells patience instead: frequent checks, the correct procedure entered with your details, and a file that is ready whatever the date turns out to be.
In Zaragoza, police foreigner procedures take place at the Brigada Provincial de Extranjería y Fronteras on Avenida de Valencia. The confirmation spells out office, date and time; print it and keep it in your folder.
