Your TIE card in Zaragoza: fingerprints, form and collection

A non-EU resident's TIE takes two trips to the Zaragoza police: the toma de huellas, booked by cita previa, where form EX-17, the paid fee and your photos are handed in, then the collection of the finished card. Photo, NIE and permit type are all on it. A visa or authorisation lets you in; after that, this card is what you pull out of your wallet.

Case stages

  2. 2 EX-17 and fee

  4. 4 Collection

01Who gets one

Non-EU nationals who will live here: workers holding a visa, students on long courses, relatives joining a resident, non-lucrative residents, plus UK citizens protected by the Withdrawal Agreement. EU citizens never receive one; theirs is the green certificate.

02Order of play

  • Enter Spain on your visa, or with your authorisation granted
  • Reserve the toma de huellas through the cita previa system, province of Zaragoza
  • Complete form EX-17; settle the Modelo 790-012
  • Bring passport, photos, form, paid fee and the document granting your permit
  • Return for the card once the office says it is ready

03Start the day you land

The deadline for requesting the card counts from your entry into Spain, and slots take time of their own to find, so begin booking within your first days in Zaragoza. Leaving the country before the card exists can also make coming back awkward, which is why we plan the booking around your arrival date.

04Bring along

  • Passport showing the visa, and a copy
  • EX-17 with your signature
  • Recent photos in passport format
  • The paid fee slip
  • The resolution or visa behind your stay
  • A padrón certificate, should the office ask

Questions

Not quite: the card displays your NIE, but it also has its own support number, which certain online forms request.

Exactly as long as the permit underneath: a student card tracks the course, a work card tracks the authorisation.

Count on going yourself. Collection is explained at the fingerprint session.

Report it, then reserve a slot to request a duplicate. Travel planned meanwhile? Read up on the autorización de regreso.
