The EU family member card in Zaragoza

An EU citizen living in Zaragoza can be joined by close non-EU relatives, each holding a card of their own. The request goes in on form EX-19; the card brings a NIE with it and the right to live and work in Spain.

  • EX-19
  • Modelo 790-012

Case stages

4 steps
  1. 1 Family documents Start here
  2. 2 Fee
  3. 3 Cita previa
  4. 4 Card

01Eligible relatives

  • Husband, wife, or partner in a registered partnership
  • Sons and daughters below 21, or above it when they depend on you
  • Parents who depend on the couple
  • Sometimes other relatives, or an unregistered partner in a lasting relationship

02Three things to prove

Your identity, the family tie, and the EU citizen's residence on the terms of their registration. Concretely: your passport; a marriage, partnership or birth certificate, legalised and translated where required; the EU citizen's green certificate; and evidence of their job, studies or means.

03Running order

  • EU citizen registers first and holds the green certificate
  • Family documents gathered, legalised and translated as needed
  • EX-19 completed, fee slip paid
  • Appointment attended, both of you if the office asks
  • Fingerprints taken, card collected

04Typical blocker

Foreign certificates. A marriage or birth record may need an apostille or a legalisation plus a sworn Spanish translation, and both are arranged in your home country. Start on them as soon as the move is decided.

Questions

Yes, both as an employee and as a self-employed person.

Since Brexit UK citizens count as non-EU, so the family route can apply. Already resident under the Withdrawal Agreement? Then you hold a TIE on that basis.

A registered partnership works too, and a durable relationship can qualify with proof.
